Basic gardening tip - stretched for space! Solution use large planters.

Small gardens can be brought to life these days by using large planters and tubs.  They are a wonderful addition to the renters garden as you can take them with you, and your next garden will be an instant one, just by placing your pots around your new home. They also come in a great choice of colours, size and shapes creating interesting features in your garden.

Also don't forget fruit trees when choosing plants, the gardening world as grown so much over the last decade that we now have many varieties of miniature fruit trees that grow very well in tubs. We have a lime that has been in numerous places in our  garden, but wasn't doing well, until we  finally put it into a large plastic tub and found the spot it liked.  It is now very much at home and thriving.

Roses also do very well in large pots, just treat them the same as if they were in the ground in regards to fertilizing and water.

Passion fruit respond to being put into tubs with vigour, we have one that is now trailing over an archway, it looks glorious and provides shade for other plants.  Adding to the list are wisteria, mandevilla, dipladenia and many, many more all looking stunning in colourful pots.

I have often picked up cheap pots and tubs from the dump shop or online, you don't have to spend a lot of money if you look around for bargains, so reward yourself, start gardening with large planters/tubs and see how your garden comes alive.

Happy gardening

Bronwyn
