Basic gardening tip - Urgent message for cat lovers

I had an urgent call from my daughter-in-law this morning asking me to identify a bunch of flowers she had just bought as her lovely cat Freya had been drinking the water, as she does, from the vase.

An email picture showed the flower to be Peonies which as it happens turned out to be very toxic for cats.  Luckily for Freya they had only been in the vase a very short time so the water wasn't tainted.
 Peonies are also toxic to dogs.

 

Always check before buying flowers, they may look beautiful, but can be deadly for your pets.
