Basic gardening tips - tomatoes and marigolds

Companion planting has been the order of the day for decades and I still practices it in my garden, especially where my tomatoes are concerned.

Summer wouldn't be summer without tomatoes, but they do attract lots of damaging bug and insects.  I learnt long ago that you should always plant Marigolds with your tomatoes as they help to keep the bugs at bay.  They are attractive also in amongst the green veggies.  Remember they help keep bugs away, but you still need to be vigilant and watch out for large infestations.

For continual flowering don't forget to deadhead.

Happy gardening
