Basic gardening tips - fairies and gnomes in your garden

Recently I caught up with our regular house sitter and she said one of the things she loved about my garden was that it didn't matter where you looked there was always something interesting nestled among the plants.

I then thought about when my grandchildren visit and the same thing happens with them, I recently spent a lovely couple of hours with Harry and Charlee exploring the garden for hidden treasures.  Harry just two was delighted when he could find three gnomes and lots more, so between Charlee watering with the hose , Harry with a bucket, more water on him than the plants and hunting for treasures a good time was had by all.

Also when our grand-daughter Tisse  came to visit we spent one evening making cakes from flowers, stones and herbs all mixed together in a bucket, she also likes to have flowers and herbs in her bath and plays all sorts of imaginary games with the petals.

Only use flowers that you can eat like roses, violets, marigolds and nasturtiums to name a few.

It just go to show that kids still love to play out doors, you only have to make it interesting and teach them to smell the plants and you will have a budding gardener in the making.

Happy gardening

Bronwyn
